If you’ve bet the NBA for very long, you are probably familiar with teasers. Teasers are typically more popular in football, but that doesn’t mean they don’t give you an opportunity to make money when betting the NBA.
For the uninitiated, teasers are basically parlay bets in which you get additional points on every line you bet at increased risk.
What we wanted to know was which NBA lines were profitable to tease and which ones should typically be avoided. We’ve looked at every regular season NBA game since 1995 to see what situations would benefit the most from teasers.
The tables below show winning percentages at each point spread based on the number of points teased. We then compared that winning percentage to the actual winning percentage you would need to hit on a two-team teaser in order to turn a profit (listed at the bottom of each table). We have highlighted point spreads that have historically given bettors an advantage with teasers. With this information we can try to figure out exactly why certain numbers hit at a higher percentage than others. If the “why” makes sense, we know we can tease teams at that spread with increased confidence.
There are a couple of things going on with these tables. We’ve broken it down into four unique situations: home favorites, home underdogs, road favorites and road underdogs. We’ve included the results for teasers at 5Dimes and Bookmaker. These are the only places we recommend taking NBA teasers unless you can get comparable odds or better.
Bookmaker offers amazing odds for 6.5 point teasers, as well as the best odds for 5.5 and 6 point teasers that we’ve been able to find.
